Jacob's Straitness of Soul

Jacob craves the blessing of God; he has the blessing of Isaac by trickery and deceit, and he is bent upon the blessing of God. However, to have what he longs for he must be delivered of all his own energy and devices; he must be broken out of the straitness of himself to come into the limitless freedom of surrender to God. This is the work of God, and has deep relevance to ourselves and our own walk with God in these later stages of the present age prior to the return of our Lord Jesus Christ.
