Jacob Prevails as Israel

By way of coming to understand the meaning of the name/term "Israel" we have been following Jacob as God has progressively brought him to a repudiation of his own not inconsiderable devices and schemes. These he has exercised with all the integrity he has, naturally speaking, at his disposal. Nevertheless, all of these must be seen as worthless as a means of obtaining the blessing of God, which is by grace through faith. In this message we see Jacob finally receiving that blessing, as he wrestles with the angel at the Jabbok brook.
